Protech Walter Brend Auto 2 Knife
September 3, 2007
This Brend Auto 2 is currently shown by Protech as a protype, but when this
knife comes into production, it is guaranteed to be a beauty. This knife
can definitely be a carry model with a weight of only 1.9 ounces, yet has a
fairly long blade length to weight ration with a a 2.9" blade length and an
overall length of 6.6". The standard blade is 154-CM stainless steel,
0.110 thick with a 59RC hardness.
Their prototyope model shown is an artistic creation with a Mike Norris
Damascus blade and a 416SS stainless frame beautifully accented with white
mother of Pearl inlays and retails for $900. The standard models should
come a bit less expensive.
This knife is a smaller than the previous Walter Brend Auto 1, which had a
4.5" blade and which was sold in a variety of handle colors, inlay options and
blade finishes. I suspect the Auto 2 version will also offer a similar
array of choices. Regardless, of the options, this Brend model knife is an
excellent carry knife and based off of the previously price models from $300 to
$420, I believe this knife will be a good value.
