Pocket Knife Saves Teens Life
A story just released today by the Baltimore Sun is another testament to the
utility of the pocket knives that we love to carry and collect. According
to the account, an 18 year old young man named Julian McCormick survived a wreck
in which he ended up upside down in his car in a ravine. The crash had
left Julian upside down and pinned by his seatbelt into the car. With no
one there to provide aid and no one even aware of the accident, it is quite
likely that this young man would have wound up as a grim statistic.
Luckily for this man, he was carrying a pocket knife.
With the pocket knife, he was able to cut himself free and with the
sustenance of water he drank from his boot, and a fish he managed to trap, he
was able to survive his ordeal and upon being spotted, admitted to the local
hospital. My favorite quote of the article is from his mother,
"Thank goodness he had the knife, or else he would have been stuck."
There is an unmistakable draw to a well made pocket knife, and I suspect
their are many collectors have carried a knife for so long now that it is second
nature to just grab your keys, your wallet, and your pocket knife. It is
always great to hear those stories about how something so small meant so much.
