Gerber Double Take by Bob Lum
September 26, 2007
Debuting this Spring of 2007, the Gerber Double Take designed by Bob Lum is a
modern twist on the traditional gentleman's knife. Bob Lum is a noted
knife maker from Oregon that has been making knives since 1976. Known for
his own custom take on the knifemaking process, Bob Lum has a well deserved
following and is currently not taking new orders for his custom knives; but you
can buy this one.
This unique looking knife does make you do a double take, as it appears that
it is coming and going, with blades thrust into both directions. The
double take is also an obvious play on its two blade design, with one 2.6"
serrated wharncliffe and a 2.6" fine edge clip point blade. Both blades
are made of 440A stainless steel. The handle is made of lightweight hard
anodized aluminum, which makes this particular knife a very light carry at only
2.3 ounces. The overall length of the knife is 3.5" closed and 6.1" open.
The knife features a double liner lock safety and can be opened with one hand by
means of the thumb stud.
For those who can't wait or afford a Bob Lum custom pocket knife, this is a
way to get part of his knifemaking vision into your hands and into your pocket,
and at a very inexpensive price. And next time you hear "it cuts both
ways", you'll have a better idea of the expression.
