CRKT Kiss Two Timer Award Winning Knife
September 25, 2007
Some knives are a result of a singular pursuit of an idea and
some come from the collaboration of manufacturer and designer. We this
design was the product of two ideas, two men and the collaborative efforts of
Columbia River Knife and Tool. The basis of the design was unmistakably
taken from the original CRKT K.I.S.S. knife by ed Halligan. Well Ed Van
Hoy, another noted knife designer for CRKT, happened to have one of those
magical moments when a great idea seems to hit you from the blue. He
thought to add another blade to the original design, and went beyond just
thinking about it, he created the two bladed knife and sent the custom design to
CRKT.
Columbia River K & T then contacted Ed Halligan and he agreed to
work with Ed Van Hoy to help bring this knife to market, and add to the legacy
of his original two piece knife. With both Ed's actively working on the
project, they managed to create a Frame Lock folder with two blades such that
both blades could be independently opened and locked safely. The
result is a 2.125" drop point pen knife blade that us able to fold into a recess
in the back of a 2.375" Tanto style blade. The blades can be opened and
closed with one hand, and the larger Tanto is fixed open with the use of a Lake
and Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS) mechanism. Both blades, money clip and
frame are made of 420J2 stainless steel.
And even though the result is a much more innovative and robust
cutting knife, the knife can still be used as an everyday carry and money clip.
And if you think like I do that this knife is truly innovative, you are in good
company. The Two Timer was named the Most Innovative Imported Knife in
Atlanta at this years 2007 Blade Show and International Cutlery Fair .
Proof that two Eds are better than one.
The Kiss Two Timer Model 5515 retails for $59.99 USD.
