Case Swing Guard Pocket Knife
September 12, 2007
This news is several weeks old for many Case collectors, but I
would be remiss if I didn't make mention of the Swing-Guard Lock designed pocket
knife that has been created from the collaboration between W.R. Case company and
Tony Bose.
For those unfamiliar with Tony Bose, he is a member of the Knife
Maker's Guild who creates his highly prized creations, with his son Reese, out
of his shop in Shelburn, Indiana. A full time knife maker since 1990, he
has been the recipient of a number of awards and is well noted as one of the
best knife makers in the world.
This unique
swing-guard lock designed knives will feature stainless steel bolsters, a
ATS-34 stainless steel clip blade, stainless liner, and a vintage shield design.
The blade will be 4 3/8" in length and the overall length of the knife will be 5
1/4". These Bose inspirations will come complete with a half moon shaped pouch
made of leather.
These limited edition knives will be available as follows:
-
100 with Abalone handles
-
100 with genuine Mother of Pearl handles
-
200 with Ebony wood handles
-
300 with Standard Jigged Antique Bone handles
-
300 with Standard Jigged Brown Bone handles
These knives were inspired by an early Case Swell Center Jack
pattern; a knife that was the precursor to the folding hunter. While this
particular swing guard design is not new, the old pocket knives that feature
this mechanism are quite rare, and for good reason; they are a work requiring
precise design and craftsmanship.
