Case Damascus Slimlock is a Winner
In case you haven't heard, a popular knife company just won an
award at the 2007 National Hardware Show. Yes, W.R. Case has just recently
won the the Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award at the NHS in Orlando, FL.
This is a true honor in that only thirteen products out of the many thousands of
those considered garnered this high honor. Popular Mechanics additionally
called this knife "the quintessential example of the knife maker's art".
and it is no wonder because this reasonable priced knife has all the design and
beauty of a custom made knife along with the precision and collectibility of
Case. This liner lock blade of BG42 alloy steel has a thumb stud for one
hand opening and a leather sheath all housed in packaging that highlights the
company's founder, John Russell Case. Special ladder-patterned
Damascus steel blades are available in limited quantities.
And if you are the type that has to have one of each, then Case has made it a
nice challenge for you. These Case knives are available in a number of
handle designs and material offerings. Ebony wood, Snakewood, and Abalone
are available along with other classics such as Classic green, Smooth Chestnut,
Bonestag, and Mediterranean Blue. And for those who want a showcase
quality look, they also offer a Mother of Pearl handle.
This knife is the culmination of 160 hand operations and features a
beautifully patterned Damascus blade which is the product of 1075 carbon steel
and 201 nickel alloy. You can find these knives from around $ 250 to $350
dollars, which may be a price point that will have these in the pockets of many
individuals, but with limited quantities of only 250 of these knives being made,
then I suspect many of these will be showcases rather than in pockets.
