Buck Climbing and Camping Knife
September 24, 2007
Buck
has been known for their outdoor knives for years, mostly of the hunting
variety. They have over the last few years brought to the market a whole
new group of outdoor pocket knives that fall outside the standard style and
lines of a typical hunter and this blade is a perfect example. Designed
with climbing, camping, and backpacking enthusiasts in mind, this unique blue
handled folder has a large lanyard loop, perfect for the outdoor trips.
Designed as a collaboration with Peter Whittaker the world renowned
mountaineer, the knife has been obviously designed with the serious climber in
mind. Peter has had a long history in mountain climbing, having climbed
Mount Rainier at only twelve years old, and currently running Rainier
Mountaineering, Inc. the largest guide service in the United States. His
uncle was actually the first American to reach the Everest Summit in 1963 and
his father has led expeditions to the world's three highest peaks.
The knife is a lightweight 2.6 ounces due in large part to the aircraft grade
aluminum handle, making it a light carry for those long hikes or climbs.
The 420HC steel blade is 2.5" long with a partially serrated edge and features
the Buck name on the top part of the blade. The closed length of the knife
closed is 6".
This Short Revolution Model 436DKBX Catalog number 5619 retails for $79.00
each and can be found where Buck knives are sold.
